S5/6? Interested in a Career in Engineering?

South Lanarkshire Council are looking to recruit 2 Graduate Apprentice Civil Engineers. This is an incredible opportunity for a young person due to be leaving school in May 2020. This could be an alternative option for a student who has already applied to University for an Engineering discipline or for a capable student who is more interested in work based learning.

The Graduate Apprenticeship is a 4 year blended learning opportunity. During this time the students will be working for South Lanarkshire Council’s Roads and Transportation Resource getting hands on, practical work experience. They will study at Glasgow Caledonian University to gain a BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering (Environmental Civil Engineering) and after graduation they will be able to gain the qualification of IEng with an industry professional body. The starting salary for this position is £20,876 per year.

There is a minimum entry requirement for candidates interested in this role.

  • 4 SQA Highers (ABBB) –

A Foundation Apprenticeship is accepted as equivalent to one higher as part of the overall grade profile of Highers required for entry.  Any essential subjects at Higher should still be achieved in addition to the Foundation Apprenticeship
