Mock Interviews for Senior Pupils- December 6th 2017 (8:45am- 11am)

This would be aimed at pupils hoping to go for interviews for college/ university places as well as those aiming to go straight in to the world of work. The feedback that you would be able to provide pupils with will enable them to build on their interview skills ahead of the real deal!

We have a range of employers already on board and are keen to expand.

What’s in it for you?

As an employer you will be able to gain a first hand insight into the quality of the future work force- you might even find your next employee!

If you think this is something you are keen to get involved with please contact Miss Horn.

Careers Convention- November 30th

Do you or anyone you know feel that you could contribute to this year’s Careers Convention?

If the answer is “yes”- see below for your invite!
YOU’RE INVITED TO:
Hamilton Grammar’s Careers Convention

On Thursday the 30th November 2017
From 7:00pm to 9:00 pm
At Hamilton Grammar School,
Auchincampbell Road,
ML3 6PE
Why should you attend?
Following on from the success of last session’s Careers Convention, we have decided to host another!  This is a chance to help inform pupils, and their parents/carers, about their options and choices in the world of study and work. We are looking for you, as educators and employers, to come in to the school and promote the benefits of being involved with your organisation – or the entry requirements and expectations you have. Your input will provide valuable insight into the skills and qualities employers desire in their workforce. We are very keen to work with you and it would be great if you were able to attend.
For more information or to book yourself a stall, please contact Miss Little or Miss Horn.

Business is Booming!

BB1
Hamilton Grammar School hosted it’s second Business Breakfast at the end of September. This was an opportunity for employers and training providers to visit the school and network with pupils and staff. Pupils were paired with professionals within their field of interest and were given invaluable insight into what a day on the job really looks like.

Represented at the event were New Age Fitness, Brakes, NHS, Aldi, Routes to Work South, Banks Group and SSE to name a few. Special mention to Hannah McNicol of S6 for capturing the event so well.

S3 Work Experience 2017

jamieOn the 15th May many of our S3 pupils went out on Work Experience for the week. This was an opportunity for pupils to gain hands on experience in their desired careers or perhaps just to gain an insight into what the world of work is really like. Pupils returned to school with many positive stories about their week to share with staff and some useful careers advice gained from experienced professionals. Special thanks to Mr Quinn and Miss Kelly for coordinating the program this year and ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the course of the week. Below are some of our pupils who were lucky enough to spend their week at The Hamilton Gymnastics Club and George Taylor & Co.

Success for Kayla!

DSC_1016Following on from the post about the Scottish Apprenticeship Showcase at South Lanarkshire College in March, it is with great pleasure to announce that Kayla Findlay of S4 won The Carpentry Challenge. She was the fastest pupil on the day to successfully insert a number of screws into a board in 30 seconds. This event was sponsored by Mears Scotland Ltd and Kayla is seen here being presented with her Kindle Fire by Margaret Evans from CiTB. Congratulations Kayla!
