In response to news coverage from other areas of the country over the weekend, the headteacher has issued a letter to parents/carers. A copy is available here.
This year we have 3 Christmas events all happening on Wednesday 19th December.
Christmas Jumper Day
We are once again taking part in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. It is not a non-uniform day and pupils should endeavour to bring in a donation (approx. £1) on that day.
Our S6 pupils will spend periods 1 to 5 dressed as Christmas Elves, offering their services to departments around the school in order to raise funds for our Charity Partner LesHoey Dreammaker Foundation.
S6 Christmas Lunch
Our S6 Christmas Lunch will be served periods 6 & 7, after Elf Day duties are complete.
On Sunday 2nd December a group of S6 pupils from Hamilton Grammar School attended the Les Hoey MBE Christmas party. This is continuing our partnership with the charity and the group of young people who attended are part of the group steering our fundraising.
The volunteers had a fantastic day as Santa’s helpers enjoying playing games and dancing with the children in attendance. This was a wonderful experience and made everyone feel that they were making a difference to the children and their families. It also gave them the opportunity to see our fundraising put to good use.
Well done to all those involved.
The school’s deadline for UCAS is fast approaching – 21st December. Applicants will be busy with prelims but should be reminded of the time sensitive nature of having their applications completed. All applications need to be checked by our UCAS Co-ordinator before Pupil Support staff can complete references. I am sure you will appreciate the time required to ensure that all applications are correct and that each reference reflects the skills and qualities of the applicant, and so we would ask that, where possible, applicants complete their applications as soon as possible.
Don’t wait until the prelims are over and find your application caught in the last minute rush!
As part of our ongoing commitment to helping our community, Hamilton Grammar School is delighted to announce a partnership with Les Hoey MBE Dreammaker Foundation.
Over the coming years we will work closely with this local charity to raise funds and provide volunteers to fulfil the dreams of children with life-limiting conditions.
On Friday 26th October we held a launch event in the school which was attended by representatives of the charity and invited guests. This event was huge success and gave our S6 and S3 volunteers the opportunity to discuss our plans for the future.
Look out of fundraising events taking place through the year!
