Over the summer we had a 2 great new additions to our PE facilities, a dance studio and an outdoor gym. We understand that it’s important for pupils to know how to use the outdoor equipment correctly, so we’ve put together a playlist of instructional videos explaining how to use each piece of equipment. Pupils will also be shown this as part of their PE lessons over the coming weeks.
Our brand new Count On Me after school numeracy group is starting on Tuesday 18th September for S1, and Thursday 27th September for S2.

Hamilton Grammar School are delighted to announce that they have been awarded Eco School status for another two years. This is the school’s 7th Green Flag award which is a first for secondary schools in South Lanarkshire Council and only one of four secondary schools in the whole of Scotland to reach this achievement.
The award would not be possible without the hard work of the Eco Club, Community Committee and our parent partners as well as the continued effort of the pupils and staff.
Well done to everyone involved!
Parents of pupils who are applying to higher education this year, for entry in 2019, are cordially invited to a special UCAS evening for parents, and if possible pupils, where there will be a full explanation of the procedure along with the opportunity to ask questions.
The meeting will be held in the Social Area at the school, at 7pm on Wednesday 29th August.
Ms. McKenzie from the Pupil Support team will deliver a presentation on the following;
- The UCAS form and how to complete it;
- The crucial deadline dates which have to be met on the way;
- The need to investigate the most appropriate courses and universities;
- The costs incurred with different options;
- The importance of the student’s personal statement and how this can influence a university’s decision;
- How to prepare your son or daughter for interview.
Pupils who have reached school leaving age may be entitled to Education Maintenance Allowance – EMA. Applications for EMA can now be made online via the link on the South Lanarkshire Council website. This is the preferred route for applications. The link is https://www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/info/200188/secondary_school_information/158/education_maintenance_allowance_-_financial_help_for_senior_pupils
This link also allows you to print out a copy of the application form and guidance notes. There is a small number of forms available in the school office for applicants who are unable to complete the form online or print it out.
EMA payments depend on pupils maintaining good attendance and timekeeping as well as abiding by the conditions in their learning contract.
We have been asked by the Council to remind all parents not to park in the Bus Bay in Kemp Street.
It is important that buses picking the children up from school have safe access to the pick-up area.
As the end of term rapidly approaches we’re delighted to share our final newsletter of the session.
Remember that all previous newsletters are available through Glow.
School finishes at 1 pm on Thursday 28th June and we reopen to pupils bright and early on Thursday 16 August 2018. Senior pupils who are due to receive their results on 7th August should make sure they’re familiar with the Post Results Service information, available here.
