2016-2017 Prelim Diet

On Wednesday 14th December all S4-S6 pupils were issued with their individual prelim timetables. A copy of the entire timetable is available to download here. It crucial that all pupils know the subject and level that they’re being presented for. Rooming and seating information will be available in the Front Hall after school on the day before each prelim.

Supported Study is available from a number of departments in the run up to the prelims and main exams should pupils wish to attend. This information is being collated centrally and will be available as soon as possible. Pupils should check with individual staff until the list is published.

YPI Final

Monday afternoon saw Hamilton Grammar host another hugely successful YPI Final, part of our S5 Citizenship programme.

The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is an active citizenship programme that raises awareness amongst young people about philanthropy and their local community. Each participating school, each year is responsible for directing a £3000 YPI Grant to a local charity through a unique programme of team work, research and competition. YPI Scotland is all about creativity and passion, leaving the four walls of the classroom behind, and supporting the issues young people care most about.

  • Hamilton Drop-In
  • Scottish Autism
  • The Have
  • Ups and Downs
  • Pathfinder Dogs

This year’s winning presentation was delivered by Abbie, Heather and Sarah on behalf of Hamilton Sound who provide audio news stories linked to the Hamilton Advertiser.

Thanks to Miss Lynch for running the event, and for all involved in the Citizenship inputs which prepared the whole year group to take part.

Day of the Dead Themed Day

This year we are celebrating Day of the Dead – Día de Muertos!

Throughout the day staff across the school will be delivering Day of the Dead themed activities, pupils will be invited to dress up in theme with prizes for the best costumes and proceeds being donated to local charities.

The canteen has arranged for a special, one off menu which is advertised around the school and anyone purchasing items from the canteen on the day will be entered into a free prize raffle.

Photos will be available after the event on November 2nd.

Absence Procedures

Please do NOT use the website contact form to advise the school of a pupil absence.

If your child is going to be absent due to illness please call the school on 01698 285777 and follow the recorded instructions. It would help us to record absences correctly if you could leave the following information when you call;

  • Your name and the name of your child.
  • Your child’s registration class (1D2, 3B1, etc. – whilst there is no longer a registration period pupils will still be assigned to registration groups). If you are not sure of the class, please give their year group (1st year, 2nd year, etc.).
  • The reason for the absence and when you expect the pupil to return to school.
  • If the absence continues beyond this date please call and let us know.

If you have been unable to call you must provide a letter when your child returns to school. However changes in the way we record absences will mean that there will be no need to provide a letter if you have made a call.

If no reason for absence is received, by phone or letter, pupils’ attendance will be marked as ‘Unauthorised Absence’

Requests for permission for pupils to attend medical appointments, family events such as weddings, or holidays during the school term will still have to be made in writing.
