Over recent months some of our pupils have been participating in both the ‘South Lanarkshire Schools Swimming Championships’ and the ‘Scottish Schools Swimming Championships’. A total of 11 pupils attended the regional meet at Larkhall Leisure Centre and returned with an incredible haul with over fifteen medals, including six golds. From these impressive results a number of our pupils met the qualifying times for the National Championships in Tollcross, Glasgow. Abbie Mitchell, Sophie Newburry, Jenna Gilmore and Ewan McMurray put in some creditable performances against some of the countries toughest opposition. Ewan and Jenna also managed to achieve some top ten finishes at this well attended event.
A huge congratulations to all athletes who try and juggle the demands of school life and studying with a rigorously hard training schedule. These young people can be up at 5am some mornings and have completed a session before some of us even leave our bed. These results are also not possible without the hard work of their parents and local clubs who provide the support needed to compete at such a high level.
