Hamilton Grammar School hosted it’s second Business Breakfast at the end of September. This was an opportunity for employers and training providers to visit the school and network with pupils and staff. Pupils were paired with professionals within their field of interest and were given invaluable insight into what a day on the job really looks like.
Feedback was very positive from employers, many commenting on how motivated and inquisitive pupils had been during the event. Represented at the event were New Age Fitness, Brakes, NHS, Aldi, Routes to Work South, Banks Group and SSE to name a few. Special mention to Hannah McNicol of S6 for capturing the event so well.

As an incentive to encourage pupils to attend Friday Study School in the run up to the SQA exams, we offered a tablet as a prize to any pupils turning up to more than 75% of sessions. All pupils making this were entered into a draw and Sonto Khumalo in S5 was the lucky winner drawn out to win the Amazon Fire tablet.
Well done Sonto!

The payment schedule shows the dates that EMA payments should reach pupils’ bank accounts and which weeks are covered by those payments. The full schedule can be downloaded by clicking here.
- Pupils will not start to receive payments until their application has been processed and they have received an acceptance letter from South Lanarkshire Council. (Application forms are available in the school office)
- All S5/6 pupils should have completed a learning contract the induction days in May/June, which also acts as their EMA learning agreement.
- Please note that pupils will not receive an EMA payment for a week in which they have an unexplained absence or unacceptable number of lates. If a pupil is absent for more than a week please submit a medical certificate or doctor’s letter to their Pupil Support teacher.
- If there is an issue with any EMA payments, pupils have been asked to speak their Pupil Support teacher in the first instance, who will check attendance for the relevant weeks.
