During Scottish Apprenticeship Week, five S4 pupils went on a site visit to one of the training providers who work along side South Lanarkshire College offering the Engineering Foundation Apprenticeship for next session. The Foundation Apprenticeship is a fairly new initiative which allows pupils to learn within an area of interest and work over 2 years with the college and an employer to develop their skills. This qualification is recognised by most Universities and is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to pursue both an apprenticeship or those hoping to attend University or College when leaving school.
The boys completed tasks in electrical and mechanical engineering, with trainers commenting on how motivated and interested they were with the tasks set to them. Some of the pupils handed back their applications on the day and we wish them all luck entering into the interview and selection process for this exciting qualification.
