This week marks the start of the S3 into S4 options process where pupils will receive their options forms during their PSE class. The form will be taken home to parents/carers for discussion and completion. To assist in this process pupils will have received their latest tracking report prior to the holidays and the S3 Parent’s Evening will be held on Wednesday 15th January. The Parent’s Evening obviously provides an opportunity for you to discuss any course choice options with the teachers or pupil support teacher.
As further support, each pupil will meet with their Pupil Support Teacher for an interview to discuss their options during the week commencing Monday 20th January with all options interviews and the deadline for the return of all forms no later than Friday 24th January.
Each year there are particular combinations of subjects that are not viable on an options form. Where applicable, you are encouraged to use the space provided on the options form and we will endeavour to fulfil these choices too.
Any late submission of options forms may affect the availability of certain subjects so please consider carefully your choices and ensure that you return the form on time.
A downloadable version of the form and the National 4 and National 5 course descriptor booklets are available from the Learner Pathways Information page of this website.
New for this year is the Applications of Mathematics National 4 and 5 course aimed at Pupils who want a National 4/5 Mathematics qualification but who will not require a knowledge Quadratics or Algrebra as well as a National 4 and 5 course in the Health Sector that will be offered by the science faculty. Please check with the Mathematics Department or Science Faculty on the suitability of these courses for your child’s progression pathway before selecting these.
