Skills Development Scotland

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is Scotland’s Careers Service and we have Careers Advisers in every state secondary school in Scotland. Choosing their subjects is an important time for your child and we would like to make you aware of how we’re helping. As part of the Options Programme all pupils in S3 will receive a face to face interview with a School Careers Adviser in the coming weeks, prior to making their subject choices in January.

Skills Development Scotland’s continued commitment includes advice for pupils and parents/carers and we would like to take the opportunity to extend this offer to all parents/carers who feel that they would benefit from our support. Should you wish to speak with the School Careers Adviser then we would be happy to have a discussion with you.  We would also like to highlight that SDS have an Adult Service and please don’t hesitate to contact our PACE team if anyone in the family need support at this time.

Our School Careers Adviser team consists of Vivienne McKillop and Donna Benedetti. We are happy to be contacted at any point throughout the year. You can do this in Hamilton Grammar via your child’s Pupil Support Teacher or using the email addresses below.

For more information on how best to support your child with their learning and career choices visit My World of Work Scotland’s national careers advice website.  There are lots of useful tools and resources including a Subject Choice tool, information on choosing a career, routes into work, industry facts, the future job market and lots more.
